A life of service: Tony has organised several charity fundraisers, including charity football matches for Cliftonville youth, NI Chest Heart and Stroke, Belfast City marathons x3, most recently for wave trauma and numerous others. Tony is also a founding member of a not-for-profit social enterprise. Belfast Community Exchange CIC has structured this organisation so that the volunteers are responsible for the day-to-day running, and Tony simply volunteers his time helping members of the community with food, clothes, furniture, electrical equipment, etc. Tony also owns a safety training and consultancy LTD company and would regularly complete welfare reports for people that have safety issues with housing executive and association houses. He would complete these for free and offer advice and support. Tony has had an interest in politics for decades, as he has seen West Belfast as the 3rd most deprived in the UK for decades and believes there needs to be a change from orange and green. He also believes we should be giving people a hand up and not just a hand out. Funding for charitable organisations should be dependent on positive outcomes for families to support their long-term futures.
Tony Mallon, the dedicated Party Leader of NI People, has spent his entire life in West Belfast, tirelessly working towards bettering his community through various initiatives. His journey from organising charity fundraisers to his role in senior management across heavy engineering sectors showcases his diverse expertise and commitment to making a tangible difference. Tony’s leadership at NI People stems from a profound belief in challenging the traditional, divisive politics of Northern Ireland, advocating instead for a politics that values open dialogue, diversity, and the individual over the collective.
Tony’s contributions to his community are both varied and impactful. He has been at the forefront of organising charity football matches for Cliftonville youth, NI Chest Heart and Stroke, and participating in Belfast City marathons, among others, to support causes like wave trauma. Beyond fundraisers, Tony is a founding member of the Belfast Community Exchange CIC, a not-for-profit social enterprise empowering volunteers to support the community with essential resources. Furthermore, through his safety training and consultancy business, Tony offers pro bono welfare reports to address safety concerns in housing, underlining his commitment to providing practical assistance to those in need.
Under Tony’s leadership, NI People envisions a prosperous, peaceful Northern Ireland where cultural and community diversity is celebrated equally. Tony champions minimal government intrusion, advocating for a streamlined tax system that ensures hard-earned money is spent wisely, not wastefully. A staunch defender of freedom of speech and expression, he opposes any government-imposed limits on these fundamental rights. Tony stands with local businesses and the working class, opposing government tyranny and advocating for policies that “do no harm.”
Tony is passionate about housing reform, proposing a policy to redirect state funding from the maintenance of housing executive/association properties to the construction of new social housing. His innovative approach includes granting ownership to tenants once construction costs are repaid, thus encouraging economic stimulation through an increase in affordable housing. This policy reflects Tony’s overarching goal: to create a more equitable, efficient, and empowered Northern Ireland.
Tony Mallon’s leadership is defined by his relentless pursuit of change, grounded in the principles of fairness, freedom, and community support. His strategic vision for NI People and Northern Ireland is not just about political leadership; it’s about fostering a society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Tony Mallon, as the Party Leader of NI People, envisions a society where community, integrity, and progress define the political landscape. His approach is rooted in three core values that guide his leadership and the party’s direction:
Tony believes in the power of community-driven initiatives to foster change. His commitment to empowering local communities is about more than just dialogue; it's about enabling individuals to take an active role in shaping their future. By supporting social enterprises and volunteering, Tony aims to build a network of support that uplifts every member of society, ensuring that no one is left behind.
Integrity forms the cornerstone of Tony's political ethos. He advocates for a transparent governing process where decisions are made openly, and the rationale is clearly communicated to the public. This value extends to a commitment to honesty in all interactions, ensuring that trust is built and maintained between the electorate and their representatives. For Tony, integrity also means prioritising the public good over party politics, championing policies that genuinely benefit the community.
Tony is dedicated to finding innovative solutions to Northern Ireland's most pressing issues, particularly in housing and economic development. His vision includes redirecting state funding towards the construction of new social housing and empowering tenants with ownership opportunities. By focusing on policies that stimulate economic growth while ensuring sustainability, Tony aims to create a more prosperous Northern Ireland where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
Each candidate is responsible for the finer details of specific policies however they must all be within the boundaries of our party principles. A specific policy Tony is championing is the redirection of state funding to be redirected from rents of housing executive/association annual maintenance to the building of brand new social housing. Tony wants to gift social housing to tenants once the property is repaid the
cost of building to the contractor. The ownership and maintenance no belongs to the tenant and frees up funding to build new houses. This should drive down rental and housing costs to more affordable costs while stimulating the economy with a yearly supply of additional houses. Safeguards would be included to allow people to return homes to the state and they restart the rental process especially for downsizing families and to prevent cashing in and making yourself deliberately homeless.
We are dedicated to fostering freedom, supporting local businesses, and promoting common-sense solutions for the people in Northern Ireland.
